Description
“Well, the good news is you’re only having a mild allergic reaction.”
“You call this MILD!?” Annette exclaimed. She’d become so bloated and puffy in the last few minutes she was having difficulty wobbling and waddling around, and as a result wasn’t able to thrust her hugeness into Melissa face to emphasize her point. Not that she needed to.
“Well, I just mean it isn’t life threatening!” Melissa answered. “I mean you aren’t having any chest pains or problems breathing are you?”
“No, but dammit, if this is a mild allergic reacting I’d hate to see what a major one would be like. I’d probably fill up the entire apartment!”
“It’s a good thing I found some medicine to treat you, otherwise you probably would!”
“Yeah, thanks I guess. Sorry I yelled at you,” Annette apologized. “Gawd, I feel so sore though, even after rubbing toothpaste on the stings. I’m still shocked actually worked.”
“Well, I’ll be able to figure out some way to take care of all the swelling, but we’ve got to catch that bee first!” Melissa once again reminded her roommate. “Once we do that, I can… uhh… ohhh my…”
By some act of serendipity, the bee had flown into the room, as if answering a call. Both girls froze in place as they watched it buzz around them, afraid of making any sudden movements to draw its ire. They needn’t have bothered. At this point, whether it was malice or some twisted sense of humor, the bee no longer needed provocation. Melissa held her breath as it flew down and landed on the curve of her belly, just beyond her line of sight.
“OW!” Melissa cried out as she was stung a second time. Reeling in pain she slipped out of her chair and onto the floor, arching her back as she felt her belly swell larger, rising into the air as if it were being inflated like a balloon.
“Catch… that… ffff… GET IT ALL READY!” She managed to shout between gritted teeth.
Without wasting a moment, Annette grabbed a nearby jar and began flailing about, doing her best to try and trap the bee inside of it. In the meantime, Melissa struggled to her feet, her ever distended abdomen making it difficult to find the leverage and balance needed to lift off the ground. In due time she managed, and, bug net in tow, waddled after the bee, her mind seething.
