The moon rose higher in the night sky until finally, it reached its Apex. 12 Midnight, Christmas Day. Just another six hours left on the Christmas run, an Rebound and Aliya had managed to clear approximately 115,000 stops on their run. It was fortunate that, as it so happened, Santa had finished the vast majority of his run that night before Rebound had mistakenly knocked him out and thus they only had to cover the North American West coast. Even though they were getting faster and more adept at landing the sleigh, slipping into houses, delivering presents and slipping out without a trace, the waning hours and fatigue were beginning to slow them down, as were other things...
"Ungh, come on! A little help here Aliya," Rebound grunted. They'd just finished another delivery and were working their way up the chimney after enjoying a plate of fudge. Aliya, with her ability to turn into smoke, was able to slip up the chimney with ease. Rebound however was having far more difficulty. The entire night of snacking was taking its toll on her waistline, expanding and rounding her out to huge proportions. It popped the zipper of her jacket open, leaving the shiny fabric of her super suit exposed and bulging outward as it stretched to accommodate her distended belly. Although Rebound was enjoying the opportunity to indulge in all the sweets and treats that came with the Christmas Holiday, she had to admit it was making moving through chimney's more and more difficult.
"What the? Don't tell me you're stuck!" Aliya called down the chimney to Rebound, who was stopped just a few feet short of the top, her belly wedging her firmly between the walls.
"What does it look like? Of course I'm stuck!" Rebound shouted back. "Use your genie magic or something and get me out of here!"
"I told you my magic doesn't work quite right because of the yuletide and-"
"Come on! Please!?" Rebound pleaded. "We're running out of time, and this actually kind of hurts!"
Aliya sighed. "Okay, give me a second, let me think..." Under normal circumstances she could have easily teleported Rebound out of the chimney no problem, but tonight, she was just as likely to zap Rebound halfway across the world if she tried. This would require some thinking. "All right, I got it!"
With a waggle of her fingers, Aliya fired and arc of magic that encircled Rebound's middle. Moments later, the Superheroine could feel her midsection begin to slip and slide between the stones of the chimney. Wasting no time, she grasped at the walls and pulled herself up, slowly and methodically, until she finally emerged from the structure.
"Oh god, thanks. I was having trouble breathing down there!" Rebound gasped as she flopped onto the roof. "What did you do?"
"I used my magic to grease up your sides so you could slip through more easily!" Aliya beamed, pleased with how clever she was.
